Central Oregon Coast
Self-Guided Birding Trail

The central Oregon coast is one of the best and most popular birding areas in the state and very accessible from the population centers in the northwestern one-third of Oregon.

This guide takes you mile-by-mile to birding sites along 80 miles of Coast Highway 101, from Lincoln City south to Florence.
This 22-page booklet is in an 8-1/2 x 11 inch format in a clear plastic binder to protect it from the coastal elements.

After a brief introduction there is a list of common habitats and associated species.
Over 35 sites are listed with key species highlights and habitats as well as notes of camping, fees, or other interesting points. Each site is numbered with its Hwy 101 mile post number.
There are 4 locality maps for the areas of Cascade Head to Devils Lake north of Lincoln City, Siletz Bay and southern Lincoln City, the Newport and Yaquina Bay area, and the Florence and Siuslaw River area.
A major feature is the bird finding guide. It lists the best times and sites to find about 60 of those specialty species most often targeted by visiting birders.
Finally the booklet ends with a seasonal checklist of the 200 expected species along the Hwy 101 Central Oregon Coast Birding Trail.
