This was a pelagic trip in conjunction with the Oregon Shorebird Festival, one we've led for several years. On board were 32 passengers, the three guides above, Captain Kathi and deck hand Bam-Bam.
Unlike recent trips, this once-a-year late August trips avoided the windy weather created by heat inland. Instead, calmness created fog, which held off until we were about 8 miles offshore. Then it enveloped us and didn't let go all the way back to the dock.
However, we took advantage of the clear weather early in the trips to see lots of birds. And we managed to chum in 2 albatrosses finally.
